The Devil made me do it

*Warning this may offend those who are of a religious/catholic disposition*
'Go to hell' A phrase popular with people when agitated , annoyed and incredulous but now it seems this popular curse phrase has got some muscle behind it and the backer? Pope Benedict xvi he apparently seems to be using reverse psychology to would be church goers. The Rothweiller as he is endearingly known in the holy sea circles is spouting good old fashioned fire and brimstone sermon and he's got the dark stuff waiting for us sinners. When googling about this guy, I was greeted with allegations of him being luicifer himself if not, certainly being in league with him.. Thing is didnt Pope John Paul II publicly admit that there is no such place? A furious Pope Benedict unleashed a bitter attack during a sermon while on a visit to a parish church and said: "Hell exists and there is eternal punishment for those who sin and do not repent." Sounding more of a parish priest than a Pope the leader of the world's one billion Roman Catholics added: "The problem today is society does not talk about Hell. It's as if it did not exist, but it does."
"Hell consists of an eternal damnation for those who have decided to die with the stain of mortal sin' When challanged about his statement, the holy sea of rome tried to downplay the popes scare tactics that hell was a state of mind, this I understand was probably an attempt to reaffirm John Paul II statement and downplay Dante's The Divine Comedy inspired speech. Im sure if he could he would power point his sermon and illustrate his wrath to sinners using Hieronymus Bosch artwork..

The thing is Pope Benedict should address the problems within his own church oligarchy first, Thousands of children having their innocence stolen from them in the name of god and its catholic 'teachers'. Priests living in luxurious settings and lifestyles. Never mind the church turning a blind eye to genocide in not only the second world war, but many many others. The wealth this church sits on is incredible. And yet here we are listening to this guy spouting out about how we are going to be eternally damned, insulting muslims and generally being a loose cannon. Now if you ask me Im sure more people would be far more encouraged to attend mass if the church itself got incontact with its compassionate side, did an inventory of its wealth and returned its status to the church of the poor. John Paul I tried to do that very thing and his reign as pope was curtailed very quickly and he died under what I would call very suspicious circumstances.Albino Luciani was elected Pope and chose to be Pope John Paul the First. Not only becoming the first double name in the history, but also appended the first to it. He was known as the "Smiling Pope" and though his reign was the second shortest in history, only 33 days, he was loved the world over. This wonderful Pastor would have taken the Church back to its Gospel roots where it belongs. Even to myself as a wiccan, He was truly a Man of God. And you could see from his 33 days as Pope that he would have been the greatest Pope ever in the eyes the world. It is no coincidence that the Pope was killed the evening before he was going to 'clean house'. Though I was surprised by how obvious the cover-up and lies were, he was in my opinion murdered because he dared to promote positive change and rid the Vatican of corrupt banking practices.

I think the holy father himself is cashing in on the mad world around us and taking advantage of those with quite/little faith. As a very much lapsed catholic I never had much time for the church and this guy is in my opinion is just dangerous..

I think you raise very valid points. Personally I am not religious in the slightest bit and find the idea of hell completely retarded. I hope one day the masses will wake up and realize it is one big conspiracy to make them so affraid they automatically do what they are told to, then overthrow all religion completely. That is my dream.

I was raised Catholic. Even as a kid I could tell it was a farce because nobody wanted to answer my questions. Mass was about ceremony not learning. I do agree with the pope insulting muslims though, somebody needs to tell them that beheading is not a valid form of protest.

The Vatican can dry up for all I care. Frigging corrupt sodomizers.

Its such a draconian religion I really dont think it has any place today, being decent and kind and not harming your fellow man Im all for those principles and you can live your life a better person than going through all that pomp and ceremony..Organised religion -the wording is also similar with another word group - organised crime, the similarities dont end there..

regardless if musilims behead or not (which is fucking so wrong!) this guy was stirring for a holy war, all of a sudden the vatican where rolling up their sleeves for another crusading war with this guy like a foghorn at the healm. There are a few good men of the cloth there in the church but it makes me wonder would they be there if they didnt get the perks of the job?

"Thing is didnt Pope John Paul II publicly admit that there is no such place? "

No John Paul the II never said that in fact he said quite the opposite

"The thing is Pope Benedict should address the problems within his own church oligarchy first, Thousands of children having their innocence stolen from them in the name of god and its catholic 'teachers'."

THe Pope and the Bishops are addressing that. I have been involved as Layman addressing that. This really doesnt make sense. IF Hell exist isnt it important that they proclaim that?

Should the Chruch quit

Dispensing the Sacraments?

Speaking out and feeding the poor and sick?

Shall it stop speaking out for peace?

"Priests living in luxurious settings and lifestyles"

What? Most priest are not living in Luxurgy. I guess some live in places like the Vatican but living in a Chruch and Museum I bet gets kind of old

"Never mind the church turning a blind eye to genocide in not only the second world war, but many many others. The wealth this church sits on is incredible."

Good grief the Pius xii fallacy and myth again. Wealth. THe Vatican and the Holy See runs a deficit. Want us to sell all the Christian Art and the building built for the Glory of God. Well I guess that will be productive. It can be in somes guys collection instead of open for all to see

Are you an advocate for the US to sell all the art at the Smithsonian? Do you wish that cities and states quit funding the Museumns and sell it cnad give it too the poor?

"It is no coincidence that the Pope was killed the evening before he was going to 'clean house'. Though I was surprised by how obvious the cover-up and lies were, he was in my opinion murdered because he dared to promote positive change and rid the Vatican of corrupt banking practices."

Wow , didnt know Wiccas had a habot of spinning wild Conspiracy theories

" think the holy father himself is cashing in on the mad world around us and taking advantage of those with quite/little faith. As a very much lapsed catholic I never had much time for the church and this guy is in my opinion is just dangerous.."

Lapse Catholic. My dear child you are not a lapse Catholic but a Wiccian I beleieve who has cut yourself off from the Church. Also did you actually read the Homily? It was two lines and yet you have not talked about it in context yet

Somewhere between the sale of the Vatican and the continuation of an excessively opulent lifestyle lies the truth, I think. No, I wouldn't suggest that the church give away all its art. However, I'm not entirely sure why so many parish priest needs a vestry filled with opulent robes. Seriously, are they spiritual advisors or drag queens? And, while we're on the subject, why do they need golden chalices? For a group that claims to honor the simple sacrifice of a man on a wooden cross, it seems like the Church of Rome is a little...well...baroque.

Ok JH
John Paul II said that hell & purgatory were states of mind Benedict Said it really did exist.
The bishops and church maybe addressing it now but to me it all seems too little too late - for years they have known about this epidemic that seems to be sweeping their church and denying such allegations ever took place but yet when it becomes a global issue its ONLY then the church becomes interested and shows compassion and takes years to apologise. Do you live in ireland John? Do you know what kind of level of abuse and how many of its children suffered?
I am not talking about selling paintings JP Im using it as an example, the property they own alone, as crankster said they live in opulancy, have you checked out the prices online for the average pulpit , candleabra or chalice? I have. They DO live in Luxuary, in comparison to some people they live a charmed fucking life my friend. Granted theres a lot of priests in the missions that live in overt poverty but for the rest of the western world they live exceptionally well.
I call myself a wiccan because its the nearest thing I can pigeon hole myself to. It maybe a conspiracy theory to you but looking at the facts and investigations that took place surrounding John Paul I death I consider this more of a possibility of how events unfolded rather than the official reason. Interesting that you chose to tie the fact that I was 'wiccan' & and conspiracy theorist could you explain why???? Is it against their belief system to form an opinion? I wasnt aware of that? Maybe I should be more catholic and just believe what Im told to and never question things? Lapsed catholic means a catholic which no longer practices- I dont practice anymore and I havent 'cut' myself away from the church I just choose to believe in different things and I agree with some of its principles the same way I believe in some principles with other religions. I do believe the church has done a lot of good over the years but also in the same breath I believe there is rampant corruption within its organisation and even if the pope was spouting out about same sex marriages and how wrong it was I still believe that before they get off their high horses they should examine how they live themselves before condenming us to damnation eternally. But like you say youre a layman and biast so its only natural you are going to defend your church and not look at this unbiastly. Thanks for posting though.

Crankster
Good to see you here again! Im not saying that they do sell all their art either but you got to admit theres a serious amount of wealth there..

I left the church for several reasons. I guess the primary reason was my inability to suspend disbelief. I have no problem doing it when I’m watching a movie but for some reason I just cant muster up a state of blind allegiance when it comes to falling in line behind some waxy skinned sweat hog who wants my money on one hand but can’t keep his schlong out of little boys rectums on the other. Do all priests, preachers & pastors pork the progeny of their parishioners? The answer is no of course. Am I being reasonable when I worry about children being alone with a preacher? Anyone with a lick of sense would say yes. Is it unfair that all preachers, priests, etc., should suffer for the crimes of many in their ranks? In any other situation I would say no. But this is not any other situation; the church is the one place on the entire planet where every human being should expect, if not perfection, then at least some level of safety. For the same reason our laws prescribe harsher penalties for wayward cops, godmongers should be held to a higher standard and they should suffer more for their crimes against humanity in general and children in particular. I stand ready to admit the crimes committed by myself and my country. I refuse to sugar-coat history in some lame effort to mitigate wrongs that can not and should not be denied. JH from Louisiana, in the context of this post and your comment, the only consideration that you are entitled to is the presumption that you are innocent of the crime of child molestation and you were unaware that these crimes were going on all around you. Beyond that, if you expect public displays of indignant aggression to shield you from scrutiny, then you are outrageously mistaken. If you think that passive historical revisionist diatribe will carry the least weight in an age where sworn testimony and documented history leans heavily towards your opponent’s point of view, then I suggest that your cause would be better served by educating yourself not in the history of the church, which I’m sure you are quite aware of, but in church history that is now in the hands of the people who the church has failed. I recommend you throw yourself at the feet of humanity and beg forgiveness for the crimes perpetrated by the church to which you are an integral part, or don’t. Either way, your lack of respect and public display of childish anger is a sad testament to the church’s attitude towards the people who could benefit most from a little forgiveness, understanding and intelligent discourse. Let the feeding frenzy begin.

I feel the outstanding points you made and the wonderful way in which you articulated them will, I feel, fail to filter through to prick some form of objective thought for a passive agressive like JH I think his tunnel vision and surpressedive attitude will be his very cross to bare for himself in this life.

I'm not catholic, but i think that before the pope, et al, start bitching about what others should or should not do, they need to get on their knees and beg forgiveness from the jews, moors, turks, muslims, everyone they've systematically plundered (and murdered) in their quests for power and wealth. Bastards.

As an aside, did you know that the highest incidences of VD during the Renaissance occurred within the catholic church? Chaste, indeed.

If I was a practicing catholic Id feel thoroughly ashamed for the church and I imagine if jesus came down to earth that the vatican city would be his first port of call to incur gods wrath.

Hell is other people eg Simon Cowell, George Bush, Roy Chubby Brown, Paris Hilton, need I go on? ;o)

For the most part, we all have our own concept of spirituality. The best and easiest way to express this is to use the Wiccan rede, "As it harm none, do as ye will." Most organized religion has nothing to do with spirituality or religion. It's about social control. If you can keep an entire population afraid of eternal damnation, that's a pretty good way to control them.

Peace,

"Do all priests, preachers & pastors pork the progeny of their parishioners?" is a beautiful bit of alliteration.

Welcome to my humble blog. The Vatican has always been about social control, scaremongering and hypocracy. The church would benefit from the ethos of the rede itself 'Live an’ let live - Fairly take an’ fairly give' ..Thanks for your comment.

porking the progeny of their parishioners is a far cry from the likes of peter pepper but damn The man spins words more beautifully than gossamer

Hi there! Quick question that's totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My site looks weird when browsing from my iphone. I'm trying to find a template or plugin that might be
able to fix this issue. If you have any recommendations, please share.
Thanks!

You really make it appear so easy with your presentation but I to find this matter to
be actually one thing that I feel I would never understand.
It seems too complicated and extremely broad for me.

I'm looking forward in your subsequent post, I'll try to get the cling of it!
